On August 30-31, the "National Standard Drafting Conference for Underwater Welding" hosted by the National Welding Standardization Technical Committee and undertaken by Shandong University was held in Jinan. 18 expert representatives from Harbin Welding Research Institute Co., Ltd., South China University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai), Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, Zhenhai Intelligent Technology (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., CGN Engineering Co., Ltd., MCC Construction Research Institute Co., Ltd., Southern Power Grid Ultra High Voltage Transmission Company, and Shandong University attended the conference.

Researcher Lv Xiaochun, Secretary General of the National Welding Standardization Technical Committee and General Secretary of the Welding Branch of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering, presided over the meeting. Cao Yukun, Secretary of the National Welding Standardization Technical Committee, reported on the development of two national standards (draft for comments), "Skill Assessment of Underwater High Pressure Dry Welders and Welding Operators" (project number 20221030-T-469) and "Process Qualification Test for Underwater High Pressure Dry Welding" (project number 20221031-T-469). The expert group questioned the technical details of the preliminary draft for soliciting opinions one by one, proposed targeted and constructive modification suggestions, and discussed the national standard system for underwater welding. The conference achieved expected results, filling the gap in relevant standards and specifications for underwater welding technology in China, and providing valuable suggestions for the future construction plan of the national standard system for underwater welding in China. It will vigorously promote the development and engineering application of underwater welding technology in related fields in China.
